Mr. Garbers joined TMG Consulting in spring, 2008. He has previously worked for the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) in Bonn, Germany, heading the division for Ethics and National Operation Management. After Hurricane Katrina, the German government sent him to New Orleans at the request of the U.S. Department of State as a team leader helping to dewater the city. He is now a member of honor of the THW.
His over 17 years of work experience includes further work as a scientist at the Federal Statistics Office in Wiesbaden, Germany. He contributed to the development of a statistical GIS system incorporating remote sensing and photogrammetric data for the analysis of land use changes. He also taught as an instructor at Magdeburg-Stendal College and at the Institute for Community Consulting in Bernburg. He instructed students in surveying engineering, land management and rural planning. At the Magdeburg Office of Agriculture and Land Development, he headed the land planning division for the state of Saxon Anhalt, including land management, surveying, mapping, planning, construction monitoring, environmental protection, GIS, photogrammetry, supervision and implementation.
At TMG Consulting, Mr. Garbers is responsible for on-site planning studies, mapping, GIS and facility management. He provides professional services to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport including construction cost estimates and independent fee estimates. He also applies GIS technology and gravity model methodology to the analysis of gaming markets.
